Services

The 7 Tesla MRI facility provides the highest resolution brain images. High spatial anatomical and functional MRI techniques are readily available, including new and emerging techniques on human brain clearance imaging, diffusion spectroscopy and quantitative susceptibility mapping. If you have interest in high-performance MRI, please consult us to discuss possibilities. Think about functional MRI of small brain structures, multinuclear MRI, high spatial resolution MRI, MR spectroscopy, pharmacological MRI etc.

Equipment

Our scanner is a whole body Philips 7 Tesla MRI with digital receive and running at the newest software release allowing e.g. compressed sensing and AI-based reconstruction. A 32-channel head-coil and MRI-compatible 32 channel EEG are available. Head-coils for phosphorus and lithium studies are also available. fMRI capabilities, including button-press boxes and in-bore stimulus delivery are available. Physiological monitoring (PPU, Respiration, ECG) and triggering are also available. Proper documentation for performing human studies are in place.

Pricing

Cost for experiments are based on standard prices, but depend heavily on the amount of support needed to perform the studies. After intake we will provide you with a detailed cost estimation.

Our rates are based on actual infrastructure costs, and differ for internal users, external academic users and industrial partners, based on the LUMC policies for research cost calculations.

Quality assurance

  • The scanner is serviced regularly by Philips
  • Quality tests are run on a regular basis
  • The scanner does not have a CE-mark, but can be used under MDR article 82
  • LUMC is part of an active Philips 7 Tesla network, allowing quick exchange of sequences and reconstruction algorithms
  • A large group of MRI researchers of the C.J. Gorter MRI Center is available to support new applications
  • Medical physics is responsible for safety issues

About us

We aim to develop and apply the newest MRI technologies and support translation to clinical use. With an active role in the international MRI community and especially the Philips 7 Tesla MRI community, we can transfer new approaches quickly to the LUMC scanner. With tight links to LIBC, Leiden Bioscience Park, and other departments of the LUMC we offer easy access to this high-end facility.
